My name is Bombom and I’m writing to you from my cozy foster home. It’s not my forever home, but it’s warm, and my foster family makes sure I’m loved with lots of cuddles and belly rubs while I wait for my turn to go to a forever home. They say I’m a “very good boy.” I know how to sit, sometimes I stay, down, shake a paw, and I’m still eagerly learning new commands. Oh and I can’t forget to include that I’ve mastered the art of puppy dog eyes. Honestly, I’m the total package: cute, cuddly, and full of love. So I thought maybe you’d listen to my Christmas wishes.
First, if you can, I’d love a family to call my own. One that likes to give belly rubs, snuggling on the couch and will let me cuddle up in their bed with them. I’d really love a family with an older dog or calm feline sister or brother.
Second, could you bring something special for all the other foster dogs out there? Some of them don’t have beds or enough treats, and I know they’d give big Boston wiggles if they got something from you.
Lastly, thank you for making sure I landed here, safe and cared for. I may not have had the easiest start, but I’ve learned there are good people in the world who believe every dog deserves a second chance.
I’ll leave some kibble out for your reindeer, just in case they’re hungry. I hope you and Mrs. Claus stay warm up there in the North Pole. I’ll keep dreaming about my forever family until then.
With lots of slobbery kisses,
Bombom
(Proud Foster Dog, Future Forever Friend)
P.S. My foster mom says I’m on the nice list, but don’t check with the squirrels. They’re biased.
Bombom’s journey is a powerful reminder of why rescue is so important. He came to BTRC from a shelter, where he huddled in the corner of his kennel, shaking with fear. But with the love and support of our community, he’s been given the chance to heal and thrive. The colder weather has made Bombom realize that he doesn’t want autumn to end! So off he went with his foster mom to do a festive fall photoshoot. As you can see, Bombom is looking quite handsome and proud.
Bombom recently had a staycation with BTRC alum Motley while his foster parents were away. He was understandably nervous in the new environment but soon realized his new companions were pretty cool! Motley knew where the best sunny spots were in the home while his temp foster mom allowed him to sleep in the human bed just like he does at home. He was quite pleased that they knew the “rules.”
Bombom was very excited to see his foster mom when she picked him up, and once back home, he waited patiently by the window for his foster dad to return too. Both have been working diligently to help Bombom feel less anxious. He now enjoys a frozen Kong in his crate while his foster parents eat supper, no longer needing to be under their feet. He’s still quite nervous when left alone, so they are working on leaving him for short periods of time, gradually increasing the duration until he understands that they will return. Bombom’s confidence is slowly growing, and it’s a testament to the love and patience he experiences each day. ❤

Lakeside Bliss for Bombom!
BTRC foster Bombom has made remarkable progress since coming into foster care, leaving his terrified days at the shelter behind him. His foster family is working hard to build his confidence and assure him that he is safe. He finds comfort in being with the humans he knows well and is very fond of his canine foster sisters. Although still cautious around strangers, Bombom is slowly warming up to new people and recently allowed the mail carrier to pet him! He’s less worried during interactions with new dogs – likely because their enticing scents (i.e., bums) are too tempting to resist.
Bombom has accompanied his foster family to the lake a few times and while he doesn’t love to swim, he does appreciate that it’s a great way to cool off when it gets too hot. Occasionally, he will chase a stick in the water, but he mainly loves lounging on the boat to catch some rays.
One of Bombom’s least favorite things is being left alone. When his humans are home, he prefers to stay close to them, and he vocalizes his displeasure when they’re gone. His foster family is gradually increasing the time he is left alone, hoping he will learn to trust that they will always return. Recently, Bombom took a significant step by venturing out to the backyard on his own to sunbathe on a patio chair – without the company of his foster sisters or humans. This small gesture is a huge step in the right direction!
Described by his foster mom as a “gentle soul,” Bombom’s journey hasn’t been easy, and there is still work to be done. But Bombom is worth it, and the love and affection he shows his foster family make us hopeful for this beautiful boy’s future.

Bombom came to us from a shelter in Quebec, surrendered because his family was moving. We understand that it’s challenging to find housing, and landlords in Quebec can refuse to allow pets. We could not, however, understand how his nails could have been so neglected. But no matter how Bombom came to be part of BTRC, our priority now is to ensure he receives the care he deserves.
His previous owner mentioned Bombon’s fear of strangers and lack of exposure to other dogs, which made his time at the shelter terrifying. Thanks to the compassion of one of our dedicated volunteers, Bombom has now been welcomed into a foster home where he can feel safe and begin to trust again.
Bombom is understandably still adjusting to all the recent changes. It will take time for him to decompress and build trust, but we’ve already seen glimpses of his happy and playful nature. With patience and care, we look forward to witnessing him blossom into the joyful dog we know he can become.
Bombom is not yet ready for adoption.
