26 Faces

They Needed a Safe Place.
Now We Need a Community.

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada has welcomed 26 Boston Terriers into rescue – the largest single intake in our history.

All 26 dogs are now safe and have foster homes waiting for them. Thanks to an incredible response from our volunteer community, every dog has somewhere to land as they begin this next chapter.

These are not puppy mill dogs. They come from a family situation where the number of dogs simply grew beyond what could reasonably be managed. Recognizing that help was needed, the family made the difficult decision to reach out.

We’re grateful they did.

At BTRC, we believe rescue is at its best when people ask for help before a situation becomes a crisis. Our focus is not on judgment or blame. Our focus is on the dogs and ensuring they have bright futures ahead of them.

Many may transition quickly into foster homes. Others may need time, patience, and support as they learn new routines and discover life as cherished family companions.

As with any rescue intake, we expect to learn more about each dog’s personality, needs, and quirks once they settle into their foster homes.

Why We Need Your Help

While every dog has a foster home, an intake of this size affects every corner of our rescue.

The foster homes currently caring for The Boston 26 are foster homes that would otherwise be available for future emergencies, owner surrenders, medical cases, and shelter transfers. We continue to need foster families to help us respond when the next call for help comes.

Most importantly, we need financial support.

Many of these dogs still require spay or neuter surgeries. Every dog will need veterinary examinations, vaccinations, microchips, preventatives, and ongoing care. While they appear healthy overall, experience tells us that some medical needs only become apparent after dogs enter rescue.

Twenty-six dogs mean twenty-six opportunities for unexpected veterinary expenses.

As a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, BTRC receives no government funding. Every dollar spent on veterinary care, transportation, supplies, and rehabilitation comes directly from donations made by supporters like you.

You can make a difference by:

  • Making a donation toward their care
  • Applying to become a foster home
  • Sharing The Boston 26 campaign with friends and family
  • Following their journey and cheering them on as they settle into rescue

One BT Community

There will be many opinions about how 26 dogs came to need rescue. We are choosing to focus on something else: what happens next.

Because when help was needed, a community stepped forward. A community opened their homes. A community opened their hearts.

And now, together, our community can help 26 dogs discover the lives they deserve.

Welcome to rescue, Boston 26. Your next chapter starts now.
