Banksy

I'm Available

ADOPT ME! Banksy!

Banksy, an adorable Boston Terrier/Boxer mix pup, is the perfect blend of playful energy and cuddly calm. His sweet personality makes him an ideal companion for someone looking for both fun and affection. While he’s full of curiosity and loves to explore the world by putting everything in his mouth – whether it’s a rock, a pillow, or even your hand – Banksy has a gentle side that melts your heart. When he’s ready to wind down, Banksy transforms into a snuggle bug, always wanting to be close, especially while you’re working. He’ll often sit right behind you on your chair, eager to keep you company throughout the day.

Banksy’s potty-training skills are a work in progress, and while he’s had some ups and downs, taking him outside frequently on a leash and showering him with praise is helping him improve. For now, a belly band comes in handy to prevent accidents indoors as he continues to learn. He’s fully crate-trained and stays in his crate when his foster leaves the house for a couple of hours to avoid any mischievous puppy behaviour. He also sleeps soundly through the night in his crate, waking up each morning full of energy and ready for his next adventure.

Banksy’s recovery from two recent vet procedures, being neutered and having surgery for cherry eye, disrupted his regular routine a bit, but he’s bouncing back quickly. Now that he’s back on track, his walking skills are improving every day. However, he still loves to take breaks to roll in the grass or chase after a squirrel or bunny – those critters better watch out! He has no experience with cats, but the prey drive he exhibits on walks makes us sceptical of how he might do with a feline friend. Banksy is a big fan of toys, sticks, and anything he can chew on. If you’re up for a game of keep-away, Banksy is a real pro!

Banksy is social and gets along well with other dogs. However, like many young dogs, he’s high-energy and persistent, so any canine playmate will need to match his energy or be tolerant of his enthusiasm. While he’s generally friendly, he can be a bit protective of his food and has occasionally challenged his Boston Terrier foster brother. It’s important that children are taught how to behave around dogs, especially when it comes to giving them space during mealtimes, and this is true with Banksy as well. That said, Banksy loves being around kids, and with the right guidance, we’re confident he would make a fun-loving and loyal friend for a child aged 6 or older.

If you’re looking for a loving, playful pup who’s still learning but full of potential, Banksy will make a wonderful companion! Like his namesake, the street artist, he has a knack for making everyday moments special, whether it’s with a wagging tail, a warm sunbeam, or a playful romp in the yard. With a little patience and a lot of love, he’ll blossom into the loyal, fun-loving dog of your dreams. Could Banksy be the perfect fit for your family? If yes, we invite you to fill out an application form, found HERE.

2 pups + 2 cherry eyes = a lot of TLC!

Littermates Swayman and Banksy recently had their cherry eyes repaired – one for each boy. They are lucky that their foster parents live close by, so they get to experience their vet visits on the same day!

Once out of surgery, both boys were understandably out of it and their eyes looked…well…red and swollen. Swayman had more swelling than Banksy, as he also had an ocular dermoid removed. A dermoid is a lump of furry skin that grows in an abnormal location – in Swayman’s case, his eye.

The inflammation in the boys’ eyes looks better with each day, despite the fact that when it comes to eye ointment time, they put up a fight (or shall we say wiggle). They are using the sympathy card to score extra long snuggles, delicious treats and more pets.

Sadly for Swayman, he’ll have to endure another surgery and round of recovery after this one, as his cherry eye has prolapsed through the incision site; in other words, it’s slipped out of place. This time a permanent suture will hold the gland in place. As the inflammation needs to reduce before surgery, Swayman will continue eye drops for four more weeks.

Both boys have been very good sports about wearing their cones. In fact, they feel like they are rockin’ their new look and want to ask their supporters – who wears it best?

Still to come for both boys is their neuter surgery – but we haven’t told them that yet.

The cost of surgery: $5372.22, which does not include Swayman’s second surgery.

It’s a BTRC party!

Rocky and foster Banksy were ecstatic to find out that alum Bella was coming for a staycation. They had only heard stories of the infamous BTRC celebrity but were now getting to meet her in person (or shall we say ‘in dog’)!

Bella was more than happy to share her knowledge of what happily-ever-after looks like and Rocky was eager to know all the juice. Bella explained to him that a forever home is means there’s no more wondering or waiting and you are ‘chosen’. Rocky couldn’t believe it – adoption means you are selected by a family because they think you’re so special they want to live with you forever? WOW!

Banksy was less interested in the conversation. With a neuter and cherry eye repair coming, his forever home isn’t in the near future, so he has some time. And let’s be honest – Banksy’s a puppy and adult conversation is boring.

Petit Rocky is thrilled at his new addition!

BTRC foster Petit Rocky (Rocky for short) loves dogs – and when we say love, we mean LOVE! Playing with a fellow canine is at the top of Rocky’s favs, so when his foster mom introduced him to his new brother – BTRC foster Banksy – he was over the moon!

Rocky thinks this is the best summer he’s ever had. Being a solo pup in his foster home, he resorted to playing the bitey face game with the hose (not gonna lie, he thought it was pretty darn fun). But now that he has Banksy to reciprocate his favourite game, both boys are always ready to get their bitey on!

Banksy has been doing well too – like his brother Swayman, he needs his cherry eye fixed, a neuter and is being treated for giardia. Rocky assured Banksy that he has nothing to worry about – he too had giardia when coming into foster care and with meds, it was cleared quickly and easily! (Rocky is being treated again as well as it’s best to treat all dogs in the home just to be on the safe side).

Rocky and Banksy are being fostered in the Niagara Region of Ontario and are not yet ready to be considered for adoption.

Welcome to our new buddy Banksy!

This handsome BT-mix found himself in a shelter along with his littermate (who we introduced earlier). Full of energy and always ready to play, four-month-old Banksy is having a blast with his new foster brother. Playing hard and napping side by side, these two are acting like old pals. Who is this fantastic companion of Banksy’s you might ask? It’s none other than our very own BTRC foster Petit Rocky!

BTRC’s Cherry Eye Repair Club has yet another member, so Banksy will have a consultation soon.  He also needs to be neutered. In the meantime, he plans to make himself comfortable and at home – rumour has it, his preferred sleeping position is hanging off the back of the couch.

Banksy is being fostered in the Niagara Region of Ontario and is not yet ready for adoption.
