Just one week ago, Remington came to BTRC as one of the Boston 26. Today, he’s sporting a life jacket and enjoying time on the boat with his foster family.
The little victories have been adding up every day. Remi has discovered stairs, found his favourite bathroom spots in the yard, peed on a walk for the very first time, and even had his first swim! He’s learning routines, building confidence, and showing everyone what a gentle, sweet boy he truly is.
Like many dogs from breeding situations, there are still things that are completely new to him. Walks remain a work in progress, harnesses are not his favourite invention, and house training requires plenty of patience and praise. Happily, his wonderful foster mom believes that every success, even the smallest one, is worth celebrating.
Remi absolutely adores the females in his foster home and is great with other dogs, but he remains unsure of many men and will need continued positive experiences, patience, and understanding as he learns that the world can be a safe place.
We’re also discovering that Remi’s dental health needs attention. He is missing his front teeth, has significant tartar buildup on his remaining teeth, and needs his food cut into small pieces to eat comfortably. Additional veterinary and dental care are in his future –something that isn’t uncommon for dogs coming from breeding environments but is another reminder that rescue comes with both emotional and financial commitments.
For now, we’re celebrating just how far this handsome boy has come in only seven short days. Rescue isn’t about giant leaps – it’s about patience, kindness, and a hundred little victories that slowly add up to a brand-new life. ❤️
