We are pleased to announce that our pretty little Porsha has been adopted and has quickly become the queen of her new domain.
When she arrived home, she was thrilled to discover she really liked the math. One dog plus two doting parents = pure bliss!
Sweet, gentle and affectionate, Porsha was quick to steal her parents’ hearts and they say, “We are absolutely in love with her!”
Congrats to Porsha and her new family! ❤
Porsha is a friendly and happy Boston Terrier looking for her forever home. She was given up by her previous owner because they had a new work schedule that kept her alone for long periods, which made her anxious and unhappy.
Since being taken into foster care and living with a family that is home often, Porsha is a calm and confident canine. Her mission in life is to love and be loved. With her easygoing nature, sweet disposition, beautiful face and adoring eyes she will steal your heart.
Porsha is a big kisser, so pucker up because she will shower you (literally) with love! Her foster mom describes her as a “huge snugglebug” who is happiest in a warm blanket and pressed close to her human. One of her favourite things to do is people-watch from a big window. She is the honourary neighbourhood watch! While her foster mom was away, Porsha stayed with a temporary foster parent, and proved to be a great condo canine. She immediately found a good window seat and enjoyed her new view.
Though Porsha walks well on leash, she prefers “free time” in her backyard to chase squirrels and investigate smells. She also likes a good car ride.
Porsha has a playful side and has been patient with her younger BT foster sister, who, like a typical little sister, is constantly bugging her to play. Just shy of 6 years old, she still engages in play sessions but appreciates some downtime, so a calm canine companion would be more suitable than a high-energy pup.
In her previous home, Porsha lived with a Husky and Collie, but she’s been anxious around larger dogs and selective with dogs of all sizes encountered on leash. With proper introductions, a smaller or similar-sized companion would likely make her most comfortable. She has never lived with a cat, so we recommend a feline-free home. Porsha loves one-on-one attention, so she also wouldn’t mind being your one and only. ;)
Porsha formerly lived with children, and while she does appreciate the more Zen environment an adult-only home provides, she could be okay in a home with dog-savvy kids 6+.
Although fully housebroken, Porsha was having accidents when being left for longer periods, but this hasn’t happened once in foster care. Porsha has flourished with someone home regularly to provide companionship, care and attention, so a home where her humans are often at home is ideal for her. She sleeps soundly in her crate overnight but prefers more freedom during the day. When her foster family leaves her alone, she happily lounges on the couch or near the window to await their return.
Porsha knows basic commands, is microchipped and has received all necessary vetting including a dental. A mass removed from Porsha’s chest was confirmed as a mast cell tumour. The margins were clear, but she will need to be monitored for any new lumps or bumps.
Porsha is a quick learner, enjoys the affection of every human she meets and easily adapts to new routines. If you seek an affectionate companion who will bring love, happiness and many kisses to your life, please complete the Adoption form.

The results are back from Porsha’s x-rays, taken when she was favouring her left hind leg. Two possible diagnoses were being considered: luxating patella or cruciate injury. A board-certified radiology specialist examined the x-rays, and neither condition was confirmed. The recommendation made was to limit activity and monitor to see if the limping resolved. We are pleased to report that it has!
Of course, it’s essential for good joint health that our dogs don’t carry too much excess weight. Joint supplements can reduce inflammation and aid in cartilage regeneration, and it can be a good idea to be proactive and start supplements before any problems arise. With many products available, each working a bit differently, it’s always best to consult with your veterinarian before starting any supplement to ensure that it is safe and recommended for your dog.
BTRC foster Porsha recently had a long day at the vet. Along with a dental cleaning, x-rays found that she had two teeth with rotten roots, so they were removed.
Porsha’s foster mom noticed that she was favouring her left hind leg, so her knee and hip were x-rayed. There were no signs of muscle tear or injury, but the scan was sent out to a diagnostic imaging specialist for review.
During a previous veterinary examination, a 1.5 cm mass was found on Porsha’s chest. Cytology confirmed a mast cell tumour. So, during this most recent vet visit, the mass was removed and a chest x-ray performed. Good news – there are no signs of metastasis. The mass was sent out for biopsy which will determine the grade of the tumour.
After returning from the vet, Porsha was understandably groggy and welcomed the arms of her foster mom to carry her where she needed to go. Her BT foster sister, Tiersa, was a great nurse who knew exactly what Porsha needed – sun snuggles! Both girls napped side-by-side in a comfy bed perfectly placed in a ray of sun. ❤
Porsha is being fostered in the Durham Region of Ontario and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption
This pretty lady came into BTRC’s care because her human’s new work schedule meant Porsha was alone for long periods, which made her anxious and unhappy.
A new arrival, we can tell you that five-year old Porsha is a foodie who loves to snack on an array of healthy fruits and veggies alongside her regular food. A good girl who listens well, she enjoys playing with her BT foster sister, and thanks to foster mom, you can already find them lounging together in matching sweaters. ❤
Porsha enjoys being close to her people and she is a top-notch snuggler. We look forward to learning more about this sweet girl as she continues to settle into her foster home.
