Pebbles

Pebbles

In Memory of Pebbles

BTRC Alum since 2016 ❤️

Before they come to BTRC, dogs spend their lives in different ways.

Pebbles spent hers raising puppies. When she came to BTRC in September of 2016, her estimated age was eight years old.

What came next was everything she deserved.

Pebbles found a family who adored her completely. She became Mommy’s little girl – the kindest little soul, deeply loved, endlessly spoiled, and surrounded by all the comfort and love any dog could want.

She spent years mothering her beloved “pretend babies,” breathing life into every stuffed toy she could find. She welcomed her blind sister Helen with open paws, later did the same for Braydie, and shared her home with Lucy the cat.

She was a traveller, too.

From Tennessee to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Manitoulin Island, Ottawa, and many summers taking in Puppy Palooza in London, Pebbles made memories everywhere she went. Whether it was the cottage, the trailer, the backyard she loved, or her favourite spot on the couch, she made every place feel like home.

She was gentle. Kind. Loving. The kind of dog who left an impression on everyone she met, including the veterinary teams who cared for her so well over the years.

Not too long ago, Pebbles developed a mast cell tumour, and her family faced the kind of decisions every dog lover dreads – balancing treatment, comfort, and quality of life. In true Pebbles fashion, she made it clear what mattered most: her family, her food, her yard, her couch, and being loved.

And she was.

Deeply.

When the fight became too hard, her family gave her the final gift of peace.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we let our sweet Pebbles cross over this morning, and she took a piece of our hearts with her.”

She absolutely did. Thank you for everything, sweet princess.

Run free, Pebbles. No more pain – just sunshine, soft beds, and all the babies to love.
