I'm ready for my new family!

Loki

I'm Available

Hiya! My name is Loki, and I’m three years old. My foster mom calls me “LowKey”… which is pretty funny, because I’m anything but!

Not that that’s a bad thing! I’m the kind of pup who gives 110% in everything I do. Whether it’s snuggling under the covers, soaking up pets, or handing out kisses, I’m all in. I especially love belly rubs and will gently paw at you for attention, though my foster mom is teaching me that sometimes, patience can be just as sweet as persistence. It seems I might have tried to run the show before I came to BTRC. My forever family will need to keep working with me on polite ways to ask for love and attention.

Playtime? Oh, I’m all about it! When I first arrived, I didn’t really understand the whole “sharing” thing and showed some resource guarding around toys. But with careful management and lots of positive reinforcement, I’m learning to play nicely with my Boston Terrier foster brothers – and you know what? Playtime is way more fun when everyone’s included! My foster family thinks I’d do best with confident dog siblings who won’t get drawn into any of my old antics. If a dog takes offense easily, we might not be the best match.

Did I mention I’m high-key brilliant? My foster mom says I’d thrive in agility, trick training, scent work, or any activity that lets me show off how smart I am. I’m eager to please, highly treat-motivated, and love having tasks to conquer. An active home with daily walks, training games, and enrichment (like puzzle toys) would be my absolute dream, especially if it comes with lots of snuggles, kisses, and cuddles!

When I came to BTRC, I had some anxiety and marking issues that were being helped with CBD. I’ve been doing really well in foster care with a consistent routine, but continuing CBD may help me stay my happiest, most confident self.

I get along well with dogs, cats, and absolutely adore people, but because I sometimes need to be reminded to share nicely, I’d do best in a home with dog experience and older kids who understand boundaries.

If you’re looking for an affectionate, clever, and playful companion to join your adventures – and your couch – I just might be your guy. With continued training, love, and structure, I promise to be the most amazing best friend you could ask for.

Loki is Lovin’ Life!

This handsome boy has had a busy Spring, and he’s enthusiastically participated in everything his fosters have planned. Long walks are amongst Loki’s favourite activities (though chasing his foster brothers in the backyard is a close second).

Loki’s foster parents recently went on vacation, and he stayed with a temporary foster family, including children, 10 and 12 years old. He was a happy and well-behaved visitor, and he’s become quite the craftsman! He watched intently as his foster sister made beaded bracelets and kept her company until she was ready to take a break and play. He even accompanied the family to Michaels for more craft supplies. We asked Loki if he was considering starting his own small business, and he said his schedule is just too full – hikes, fetch, snuggles and chase keep him fully tied up.

Life for Loki is not always leisurely – he’s also a fantastic student and works very hard to please. He came to rescue not wanting to share his toys and humans, and he now understands respectful play and boundaries. When he wants to burrow under the covers next to his human and sees his foster brother there, he’s comfortable joining in on the snuggles and now realizes he doesn’t need to be the only pup in the pile up! His fence-barking has improved significantly, too, and while he remains alert, he chooses not to bark.

We have some great news for Loki (and potentially for you!) – he will be up for adoption soon, and as his fosters say, “He’s going to make a family super happy; he’s such a good boy.” ❤️

Loki is being fostered in Edmonton, AB.

Loki is working hard at keeping his emotions…low-key!

BTRC foster Loki has already made big strides in his training in the short time he’s been with his foster family. He’s a boy who loves affection, toys and basically anything he can have to himself. And while he still craves these things, he’s learning to do so in the presence of his foster siblings while respecting their boundaries and desire to share in the fun.

Loki’s foster family, including Moose and BTRC alum Bertie, is committed to helping him with his training. While Bertie’s energy is quiet and composed, Moose takes the lead in teaching Loki that chasing a toy as a group means three times the fun. (The smiles on all the dogs’ faces show that they agree!) With carefully managed playtime, it’s no surprise that Loki’s been thriving alongside his calm and confident companions.

More training is in Loki’s future and his foster family is eager to learn with him. His future family will need to continue this training, so he can steadily progress and maintain his good habits.

Loki is being fostered in Edmonton, AB, and is not yet ready for adoption.

Introducing Loki!

Loki was surrendered to BTRC by a family who wanted the best possible home for him – one that could provide the training and structure he needs to thrive. At just three years old, Loki is full of energy and eager to please.

While he sometimes struggles with sharing – whether it’s toys or affection – his foster parents are helping him learn boundaries and appropriate play. They’ve been quick to recognize his cues and redirect him when necessary, ensuring he gets the guidance he needs. Training sessions will set Loki up for success as he works toward being the best boy he can be!

With two patient Boston Terrier foster brothers, and two feline foster siblings who have no qualms about letting a pup know they’ve crossed a line, Loki is in good hands – and paws!

Loki is being fostered in Edmonton, AB, and is not yet ready for adoption…stay tuned for updates!
