Holly might grab your attention with her looks, but it’s her sweet, loving personality that will truly win you over.
This Boston Terrier-Frenchie mix is the kind of dog who doesn’t believe in personal space. If you sit down, she’s in your lap. If you lie down, she’s tucked up by your neck. If there’s a cozy spot beside you, Holly has already claimed it.
Holly is happiest when she’s close to her people. She also loves her canine foster siblings and would do well in a home with a friendly, playful dog to help show her the ropes.
Found as a stray, her history is unknown – and some of her quirks likely stem from that. She’s still building confidence and learning the ins and outs of being a dog, so she will do best in a home with a predictable routine and more relaxed pace, as she continues to figure things out. Based on her initial shelter exam, Holly’s age was estimated at around five. Now that she’s feeling better and has received proper care, she may very well be younger – her energy and playful personality certainly suggest it!
She is making progress with housetraining. Saskatoon winters haven’t exactly helped her enthusiasm for outdoor bathroom breaks. She’ll need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her stay on track.
Holly has also shown some occasional poop-eating, which is not uncommon in dogs who may have experienced food insecurity or less-than-ideal environments. When she came into rescue, she was quite underweight, and it was discovered that she had a fractured jaw, which has since healed on its own. It’s very possible this made eating difficult for her in the past.
The good news is that she has since had a dental cleaning and is doing very well. One tooth couldn’t be removed at the time due to the injury and will simply need to be monitored by her future vet over the next year or so. With structure, supervision, and time, and with the knowledge that she won’t ever go hungry again, we’re confident her poop-eating habit will improve.
Crate training has been easy for Holly, and she settles well when her foster parents are out and at bedtime. However, because she loves human contact so much, we suspect she’d also love to sleep snuggled up with her humans.
She knows “sit” and is working on the rest. She’s very food motivated, smart and eager to learn – which also means she has a bit of a mischievous streak. Counters, tables, and garbage will need to be kept clear, as Holly is always happy to investigate anything that might be edible. She may also collect the occasional “treasure” (like tissues) and stash them away.
Holly is a sweet, devoted little dog who just wants to be near her people and part of whatever you’re doing. She would do best with a calm, understanding family that will continue building her confidence. While she hasn’t lived with children in foster care, she has met respectful kids on her adventures and was happy to show them affection.
Holly is ready for a home where she can feel safe, loved, and secure. A forever family to help her blossom. Could that be with you?

Holly recently went in for a spay and much-needed dental. Thirteen teeth were extracted and her vet also discovered a pre-existing fracture in her left jaw. When Holly came into care, she was underweight and we suspect that part of that was due to mouth pain – eating must have been so painful for her. The good news? The fracture has already started to heal on its own, and we’re hopeful it will continue to do so naturally. Radiographs are required next month to check its progress and determine if further treatment is needed.
After surgery, Holly wanted only one thing – to curl up on her foster dad’s chest and soak up his TLC. By the very next day, she was back on her feet, expertly acting as his assistant during some handyman work around the house.
Holly’s also been enjoying a soft-food diet, and she couldn’t be in better hands. Her foster mom is what most pups would call a Doggy Top Chef, making special delicious, healthy and gourmet ‘pup loaves.’ (We actually nicknamed them ‘poop loaves’ because they’re the only thing that can coax Holly outside in the cold weather!)
This beautiful girl truly loves to be loved, and her foster parents are ready and willing to shower her with all the affection she deserves. ❤️

Found outside in the cold, Holly and two other pups were brought to a shelter in Saskatchewan. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, Holly is now in a foster home surrounded by love – and lots of canine siblings!
Holly is described as a lovebug. If there’s a lap nearby, she wants to be in it. If there are hands available, she wants them to pet her. And, when the humans are not around, she’s content snuggling in a bed near the pups in her home – Tater, Gabby, Wrigley and BTRC alum Rosie.
While we’re unsure about her age right now, one thing is clear – her heart is big, and all she wants is to be loved. ❤️
She’s recently gone into heat, so she cannot be spayed right away, but we will gain more insight into her health needs at her upcoming vet appointment.
