I've found my furever family!

Dasher

We're happy to tell you that Dasher has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Dasher was adopted on April 7, 2026.

Just before Christmas last year, Dasher was one of three dogs found together, abandoned in the freezing cold. It was heartbreaking, and we made it our mission to ensure that he knew he was safe and loved. In rescue, we want all of our dogs to find their happily ever after. And we are happy to report that Dasher has found just that! He is officially home!

Dasher’s quite enamoured with his new BT brother Elvis…and we’re pretty sure the feeling is mutual. They’ve been chasing, wrestling and sharing kisses before curling up for naptime.

This adorable boy has also made a discovery – he keeps returning to admire the dog that shows up every time he looks at the microwave door. The pup is VERY handsome, and Dasher just can’t get enough. (His mom hasn’t told him yet that it’s his own reflection, as she doesn’t want it to go to his head).

With every passing day, Dasher grows more confident and comfortable, and it helps that his loving brother brings him toys and invites him to play, while the rest of the family showers him with love.

His mom says, “Well, we sure won the lottery with Dasher! He is absolutely wonderful. This has already been such a wonderful experience for all of us. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in taking care of Dasher and getting him to where he is. And we’re grateful to be the ones to carry on in this journey…our hearts and homes are full. Dasher is exactly what we all needed.” ❤️

Happy forever, Dasher and family – we’re so happy for you!

Add a little Dash(er) to your life!

Hi! I’m Dasher… but my foster mom also calls me Dashy, Baby Dash, Silly Goose, and Poop Zoomer (you’ll understand later). The list is long.

And honestly? Even if I didn’t already have a name, Dasher would still fit. I LOVE to run. Fast, fun, full speed zoomies!

My story didn’t start out great. I was found abandoned on a rural road in Saskatchewan in frigid temperatures just before Christmas. But that part’s behind me now. Thanks to BTRC, I’m safe, warm, loved – and ready for my forever home.

Because of my past, I’m still building confidence. I’m a sweet, gentle guy who just needs a minute to know I can trust you… and then it’s all wiggles, kisses, and best friend energy. I try really hard every day – my foster mom says I’m incredibly brave.

I live with a foster sister (a BTRC alum!) and I think she’s the coolest thing ever. She’s shown me the world isn’t so scary, and I would LOVE a friendly, confident dog in my forever home to keep teaching me the ropes.

I’m a homebody at heart. Walks aren’t really my thing yet – the world can feel like a lot – so if you’re looking for a hiking buddy, I’m probably not your guy (for now). But if you want a playful, snuggly companion who loves the yard, the couch, and a good sunny nap spot… I’m in.

At home, I’m a pretty easy guy:

• love to play (bitey face is a favourite)

• professional napper (must be cozy, ideally near you)

• crate trained and good for short absences

• working on housetraining – I’m doing well, but need consistency

And yes… “Poop Zoomer.” Let’s just say when it’s time to go, I take my job very seriously. Into the yard at top speed!

I’m a respectful, playful guy with other friendly dogs (especially smaller ones). Cats are unknown, but I think I could be pals with a friendly feline. I haven’t been around kids, but I’d likely do best with calm, older children (12+).

I’m looking for a home that gets me – patient, kind, and ready to keep building my confidence. I don’t need perfect… just someone to meet me where I am, who sees what I can be, and is excited to help me get there.

Ready to add a little Dashy energy to your life? I promise I’ll bring the zoomies, the cuddles, and a whole lot of love. You’ll find my adoption application HERE.

A Day in the Life of Dasher

My day starts by checking if my foster mom and foster sister are awake. If not, I head back to my cozy donut bed (which is on the big bed, obviously) and tuck myself in until it’s officially morning.

Once we’re up, I head straight outside. I’m a very efficient guy – quick pee, followed by a few high-speed laps (you know… to find the perfect spot), and then get my business handled. This is where the nickname “Poop Zoomer” really shines!

Back inside, I wait politely to be cleaned up (paws and bum, I’m very civilized), then it’s breakfast time. I eat from a slow feeder because sometimes I get a little too excited about food. When I’m done, I sit nicely and wait for dessert (dental stick = best part of my day).

After breakfast, it’s a mix of playtime, chew time, and naps – ideally near my people. I love a good sun spot and can rotate between lounging locations like a pro.

If my foster mom leaves, I settle nicely in my crate with a snuffle mat or treat toy. I do best when it’s not for too long, and I appreciate a routine.

Throughout the day, I check in regularly to make sure everything is running smoothly. If my foster sister is home, we play – a lot – wrestling, bitey face, and occasionally a game of hide-and-seek (I have some very clever hiding spots).

I’m not a big barker, but I do like to “chat” during playtime. I have a deep alert bark… and a surprisingly high-pitched play voice.

Evenings look a lot like mornings – dinner, dessert (very important), a bit more play, and then winding down with my people.

I’m still learning some of the basics, like housetraining and feeling confident in the world, but I’m getting A's for effort. And honestly? I’m doing pretty great.

Dasher is foster in Edmonton, AB and the best news – he’ll be up for adoption VERY SOON!

Dasher wants to make one thing clear – he is NOT tired.

Once home from his neuter, his foster mom insisted he take it easy and go to sleep. He was quite offended, to be honest. He’s young, vivacious, and with a name like Dasher, how dare anyone suggest rest? Sleep is for seniors. He made sure to tell his foster mom that he was simply giving his eyes a quick break to get them ready for playtime.

Jokes on Dasher because 5 minutes after this picture was taken, he was sound asleep.

Mom: 1
Dasher: 0

But shhhhh, we won’t tell him that.

Dasher is being fostered in Edmonton, AB and is not yet ready for adoption.

Say hello to Dasher!

You might recognize this handsome face – he’s part of the ‘Christmas Trio’ that was found abandoned out in the cold in Saskatchewan. Thankfully, a kind person stepped in, and Dasher found his way to a shelter. We’re even more thankful he’s now in his foster home.

Despite everything he’s gone through, Dasher’s nothing but sweet, loving and full of wiggles. Seriously – getting a still picture of him is hard because his bum never stops moving!

We’re still learning about Dasher (including his age), and though he received immediate veterinary care at the shelter, he recently saw a BTRC veterinarian for follow-up care. He will need to be neutered very soon, but right now he’s more concerned with enjoying the company of his foster sister, BTRC alum Ellie Mae and his foster mom. ❤️

We’re happy to welcome you to the BTRC family, Dasher!
