Charlot was transferred to BTRC from a shelter. Apparently not good with other dogs, his life changed when he met Rudy – a senior gentle giant who welcomed Charlot with open paws and gladly took on the role of canine foster brother. Their bond was immediate, and Charlot thrived under the care of his foster family, who have worked on his training, taken him to appointments for all vetting, and nursed him through recovery from bilateral patella repair surgery.
Although his necessary care took several months, it didn’t take long for Charlot to fit right in as part of the family; he had a special place in his foster parents’ hearts from the moment they met him. We are pleased to announce that his family has made it official – Charlot has been adopted and has graduated from ‘foster’ to ‘forever’! His name has also graduated from Charlot to Charlie.
Sometimes when things seem just right and the people, pups and puzzle pieces fit, one can’t deny that it’s meant to be.
Congratulations to all! ❤
A little over a month ago, BTRC foster Charlot had surgery on both knees to correct his luxating patella. Through his recovery, Charlot’s foster family has adjusted his environment to make him comfortable and safe. Initially, Charlot needed help eating and walking with a towel sling to support his lower half. Foam steps have made getting up on the couch a breeze and he has requested they remain a permanent piece of furniture in the house. His big brother Rudy also took it upon himself to be a watchdog, making sure Charlot got the R&R he needed. ❤
Charlot recently started water therapy and is doing well! Strengthening his muscles will be helpful for his recovery and so far, he seems to be a pro!
You’d never know that foster Charlot just had luxating patella surgery to repair both of his knees! He says that his motivating factor to get back on his feet is BTRC’s Move Your Way 2K & 5K on September 21-22. He wants to be in tip-top shape to help BTRC reach their goal of $25,000, to help ensure dogs like him receive essential medical care to move one step closer to their happily-ever-after.
Participants have the option to complete their 2K or 5K in the manner that suits them. Adoptable Tony will be jogging, Adoptable Chuck’s foster mom has a stroller ready for him and Tikka, Tux and Thomas said they plan on a leisurely stroll. Puppies Swayman and Banksy asked if they could zoomie their way through.
Registration is free, and if you raise a minimum of $100, you’ll receive a thank you gift and the chance to win some great prizes from our generous sponsors! So, like Charlot, get up and get hyped – it’s time to set up your personal fundraising page and start collecting pledges!

BTRC foster Charlot saw a gorgeous fella inside his home and stopped in his tracks. He was enamoured by his silky fur, muscular chest and interesting markings. One black ear and the other white? How cute! One blue eye? Veryyyyy cool!
Then Charlot’s foster mom broke the news – that the handsome boy in the mirror was Charlot himself! He could not believe his ears (and eyes!). For four years he’s been walking around not having a clue that he could be on the cover of DOGUE magazine…maybe even a centrefold!
Since the revelation, Charlot’s foster mom has noticed that his chest seems to puff out a little more and he has a little strut going when he walks. Now one of Charlot’s favourite things to do is stare at himself in the mirror.
We get it – no one could ever tire of that beautiful face.
Today, February 17, 2024, is National Random Acts of Kindness Day.
BTRC Charlot knows all about random acts of kindness. His foster brother Rudy has given Charlot the gift of confidence. Through a small nudge, a short snuggle or by simply sitting beside him, Rudy makes Charlot feel safe and loved.
BTRC receives random acts of kindness every day. Whether it is words of encouragement, sharing a post or donations of your time, money and talents, we are grateful for your support.
Your wonderful gestures help rescue dogs – not just today – but every day. The world needs more people like YOU. ❤
When I think of you, I can’t help but smile. When I see you, my eyes light up. When I snuggle you, I feel safe.
I met you at my foster home and at first glance, I was speechless. You were radiant and I was dazzled by your beauty. At that moment, I decided that I never wanted to let you out of my sight.
You make me feel full of life and you satisfy my hunger for love. I want to keep you by my side always, even when it’s time to sleep.
My foster mom says that I don’t need to worry; that no one will take you from me. Coming from a shelter, life wasn’t always predictable, so I work hard every day to build my trust.
You are my love. You are my food bowl. And I want you to be mine forever. Will you be my Valentine?
Love,
Charlot
Charlot (pronounced Shar-low) has arrived just in time to score a foster home full of warm beds, toys, treats and snuggles for the holidays.
Transferred from a shelter, 4-year-old Charlot is now loving the freedom to explore a backyard where he has found many suitable pee spots and space to do zoomies. His foster mom says that, so far, he has been a very polite house guest.
Without a foster home willing to provide him with a second chance, Charlot may have been celebrating a very different holiday season. If you’d like to learn more about fostering, please visit www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/foster
Charlot is being fostered in Montreal, QC and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
