Archie was found as a stray, so when he came to BTRC, we didn’t know much about him. As we learned more, it was clear that he had an immediate bond with his foster mom. The feeling was mutual – just days after bringing Archie home, she couldn’t stop talking about him, her eyes lighting up with love.
While Archie’s affection for his foster mom was immediate, that doesn’t always extend to the outside world. She began to work with a positive-reinforcement trainer, fully committed to helping him feel safe. Caring for Archie has its challenges, but she never waivers in her dedication or her confidence that he’ll do his best to be a good boy.
His mom says, “I didn’t think I would get my heart stolen by this little nugget – he had my heart from the day I met him. We still have some work to do on his training, but we’ll do it together. Thank you BTRC for saving this pup and bringing us together. Thank you for all the help and guidance you gave me during fostering.”
Yes, you read that correctly – Archie is a foster fail! Thank you to Archie’s mom for giving him a chance and committing to a beautiful life together.❤
BTRC foster Archie was recently neutered and is feeling great now that he can go about his day without the dreaded cone. Archie wasn’t fazed by his surgery – likely because his foster mom spoiled him with a new toy, so his mind was focused solely on Mr. Lamb. He was so enamoured with his new friend, that he wouldn’t let him go even during his walk.
Archie is an energetic, active and loving boy and is very affectionate to his foster mom. When it comes to strangers – both human and canine – Archie is less trusting and needs slow introductions. Archie was found as a stray, we don’t know his background or what triggers his fears, but his foster mom has been working with a trainer to help him feel safe when in new territory. Archie is keen and willing to please, and those are the first steps to being a great student. Mr. Lamb seems to be an encouraging classmate because his foster mom reports that since Archie has been taking his toy with him on his walks, he has passed by humans and other dogs with no reaction.
Archie is being fostered in the Peel Region of Ontario and is not yet ready for adoption.
Found abandoned and emaciated, Archie was brought to an overcrowded shelter who reached out to BTRC to see if we could help.
Approximately five years old, Archie is a playful and affectionate boy who enjoys walks, car rides and people-watching. Though he hasn’t welcomed other dogs with open paws, he has welcomed humans, toys, treats and snuggles quite warmly. ❤
Archie needs to be neutered, but while he waits, he plans to train his foster mom to run around the house playing chase instead of insisting he drop the ball so she can throw it.
