I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Dear Santa Paws,

I hope you don’t mind if my letter starts off a little heavy-hearted. My beginning with Boston Terrier Rescue Canada was a sad one – the kind of sad that I don’t really like to talk about. So, I think I’ll just say that I’m very grateful that someone found me, and that BTRC jumped in to help.

But Santa, the really awesome thing is, my world looks very different now, and that IS something I want to talk about.

I have two amazing foster siblings. Naja is a Cane Corso. She’s a gentle giant and plays like she’s still a puppy. BTRC alum Rocky shares his blanket with me, and he’s starting to realize that I’m pretty cool.

My foster parents have learned all about my diabetes, even though it hasn’t been easy for any of us. Needles can be scary. I never knew I had diabetes – I guess that’s why I felt so crummy before coming to BTRC. Recently, my foster parents noticed I wasn’t feeling like myself. I was having a hard time finding the strength to move, and I didn’t want to eat. They took me to the emergency clinic, and it turns out that I had a nasty UTI and needed more hydration. They stayed with me, advocated for me, and made sure I got everything I needed. I’m feeling much better.

So, Santa Paws, I don’t have a huge wish list this year. I already have warm blankets, loving foster siblings, and humans who don’t give up when things get hard. Can I ask that you work your magic and help keep me strong? I’m getting used to having diabetes, but I know how important it is to have good blood sugar. Can you help get me there?

Thanks for listening to my story, Santa – even the parts I’m not quite ready to tell yet. ❤️

Your bestest boy,
Zeus

A big hello to Zeus!

Zeus, age 10, came to BTRC via a vet clinic. He wasn’t in great shape when he arrived – underweight and clearly not feeling his best. Bloodwork confirmed he was diabetic, and we were able to start treatment right away. With insulin and some TLC, his blood sugar levels are already improving!

Zeus quickly discovered the joys of snuggling with his new canine siblings. His foster brother, BTRC alum Rocky, wasn’t so sure at first, but Zeus was determined to win him over. Now Rocky has learned that shared blankets are the best blankets, and Zeus is proving himself to be a sweet little guy with a big heart.

His foster parents are learning the ropes of diabetes care, and they’re doing an amazing job. As Zeus starts to feel better and becomes more comfortable, his personality is really beginning to shine through.

We will post an update soon – rumour has it that the holidays are going to be quite special for this adorable boy. ❤️

Zeus is being fostered in the Niagara Region and is not yet ready for adoption.
