I've found my furever family!

Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Georges was adopted on October 23, 2024.

357 days. This is how long Georges spent in foster care. Scheduled for euthanasia, BTRC took him in and with the love, care and training he received from his foster mom, Georges was finally ready to find his forever family.

Georges’ parents were delighted to bring him home and he was just as excited. Full of enthusiasm, Georges was quick to show his new humans his favourite orange ball and was quite pleased that they were skilled at throwing it just the way he likes (over and over again).

At home, you will often find Georges with a toy in his mouth or belly up. He has just the right ‘look’ that tells his parents exactly what he wants, and they are more than happy to oblige.

His family says, “Georges est le chien de nos rêves, doux, obéissant et toujours heureux!”

Those words are music to our ears. To Georges and family – felicitations! ❤

George is up for adoption!

Hi, I’m Georges, and I’m two years old. My foster mom says I’m full of beans, and I think that’s because I’m fun and energetic, not because of the occasional ‘fragrant’ moment!

Want to hear something cool? I can practically fly! I can clear three to four feet with ease. My jumping skills might be inspired by my feline foster sister, Camille. She enjoys my forehead kisses, and I love how she helps me feel calm.

I’m very good at getting extra attention from my foster mom by looking worried and sad. She showers me with pets and sometimes sings to me, which makes me so happy. When I think she needs cheering up, I act silly to make her laugh. I also remind her to take work breaks by standing on my back paws and putting my front paws on her lap. I love spending time with my person but when they leave, I wait patiently in my crate for them to come home. I sometimes sleep in my crate at night, but my favourite spot to sleep is under the covers in the human bed.

I used to be nervous and vocal around visitors, but I’m getting more comfortable. I still prefer introductions at my own pace and would do best in a calm, adult-only, dog-free home with a predictable routine. Sudden movements can scare me, so I thrive in a peaceful environment.

I walk well with a front-leading harness but prefer the privacy of my backyard for doing my ‘business’. I’ve learned to walk past calm dogs with the “leave it” command, but I still act tough around barking or excited dogs. I’m working hard on my training and need a forever home that will continue to help me learn and grow. Bit embarrassed to admit but I do get car sick, so road trips aren’t my favourite, but if you love to cruise, we could work on it together!

I’m in great health and fully vaccinated, with a smile that’s still perfect – even after having thirteen teeth removed! I let my foster mom brush my teeth to keep them white and sparkling, and I enjoy a hypoallergenic diet to keep my skin and ears itch-free.

If you’re loving and patient and believe in ongoing education, I’d be thrilled to be your new best friend! Bonus if you love playing fetch, because after a good game, I’ll happily snuggle in your lap. It’s important to stay active and enjoy some chill time! Interested? Check out my application form HERE. I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventure together!

George has found his BFF!

BTRC foster Georges has become great friends with his 17-year-old feline foster sister, Camille. Though Camille was unsure about him when they first met, Georges’ attempts to court her worked! When she would jump on the couch, he would too. When she would go to the bathroom to use her litter box, he attempted to join her (though his foster mom had to intervene and teach him about boundaries). Camille quickly warmed up to him – with a face that cute, how could she not?

Among Georges’ favourite possessions is his orange ball. Quite concerned when it went missing one day, he searched and searched to no avail. His foster mom bought him a few replacements, but nothing compared to his precious toy.

One day Georges’ foster mom noticed a commotion behind the “assistant’s chair” (that’s where Georges sits to supervise any work from home activity). After a few moments of rustling, she decided to check things out and there it was – Georges’ orange ball! Georges was trying his best to retrieve it, but he couldn’t quite reach it, so his foster mom was the hero of the day when she rescued it from its hiding place.

Some suspect that Camille might have been guilty of hiding the ball. After all, without Georges’ attention on the ball, it meant more attention on Camille.

Georges’ foster mom has been working with a trainer to help him feel safe and comfortable. When he is alone with his foster family, he is an affectionate and playful boy. However, Georges is still trying to build his confidence and comfort level around strangers – both inside and outside the home. He has made some improvements and is working hard to be the best boy he can be.

Georges is being fostered in Montreal, QC and will soon be ready for adoption. Stay tuned!

Georges' has an admirer!

Chère Georges,

You are black and white
I'm a Boston too
Although you are far away
I still love you
You love your orange ball
I love orange cheese
We are both happy fosters
Who are eager to please
We are young and healthy
Our time as fosters may be short
But we can send love letters
Back and forth

Georges, will you be my Valentine?

Love,

Mia

One dental down and many more kisses to go!

It didn’t take long for BTRC foster Georges to bounce back after his dental. Dental x-rays showed 13 troublesome teeth that needed to be extracted, then all his remaining teeth were cleaned and shined to pearly white!

Georges took a long snooze upon returning from the vet, but awoke with a big appetite, a wiggly bum and a desire to play! When he realized there were no chewies or balls in the toy bin, he knew something was up. Georges, being the good boy he is, took all the soft toys out of the bin and gently presented his favourite piggy, monkey and hedgehog to his foster mom – but knew it wasn’t time to play.

Being a top-notch employee, Georges was quickly back to work in his usual spot – the assistant’s chair – while his foster mom worked from home.

We are happy to report that Georges’ recovery has gone smoothly and he has eagerly returned to playing with his beloved orange ball.

Hi Santa Paws,

I’m sending you this letter to say thank you, thank you, thank you! I had the bestest Christmas ever! My foster mommy says it’s polite to send thank you cards to people when they do nice things like you did for me. My foster mommy is teaching me about manners and how to be a good boy. She tells me I’m getting gooder and gooder every day.

Ya know, Santa, I was close to not being able to celebrate Christmas. But a nice person at my vet’s office helped me get to BTRC and I got to have Christmas, and my foster mom said it’s the first of many more!

I know lots of pups are the most excited about the toys they got for Christmas but I’m the most happy about being safe and having a foster mommy who really cares about me. She does training with me and takes me for nice walks. She tells me I’m a good boy and this makes me feel super happy. Oh, and Santa, thanks for gifting me with a foster sister. She’s a cat and I like to snuggle up with her. I also like this really cool house she has. She does her pee pees and poo poos in it, so my foster mom says that her house isn’t for me and that those aren’t treats inside.

See how lucky I am, Santa? Thank you for bringing me all these gifts in time for me to have a special Christmas.

My foster mommy says that a new year is coming and I gotta make something called a resolution. This is a big word so mommy said to think about it like a goal – something I will try hard to do.

My New Year’s resolution – be the goodest boy I can be.

Love,

Georges

Welcome Georges!

BTRC was contacted by a vet clinic about a 2-year-old Boston that was scheduled to be euthanized. His family was concerned about his reactive behaviour to visitors to their home, was worried about him being around children, and didn’t feel they could follow through with the training and management he would require.

We don’t know the circumstances surrounding these incidents, what triggers Georges may have, or what role environment played. All we do know is that after Georges is allowed to settle into his foster home, we’ll learn all we can about what makes him tick, and will address any unwanted behaviours with the guidance of a professional, positive reinforcement trainer.

Though Georges hasn’t been with us long, he has proven to be full of spunk! His foster mom describes him as an “energetic and smart guy” who loves to play fetch and give kisses. He is intrigued by his feline foster sister (though she doesn’t share the sentiment ≽ ^ • ⩊ • ^ ≼ )!

Georges is being fostered in Montreal, QC and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
