I'm ready for my new family!

Oliver

I'm Available

Sweet Oliver is ready to find his forever home…could it be you?

Oliver says age is just a number – and seven is the perfect one. Think youthful spirit with grown-up manners. This boy is house-trained, great on leash, knows his commands, but is still always ready to play!

Whether it’s going for walks (his absolute favourite), showing off his many tricks, or cuddling up with his humans, Oliver is happiest when he’s with people. At 18 pounds, he is perfectly sized for the human bed – not too big, not too small, just right for snuggling in. Oliver also promises not to hog the covers, but his foster mom says that his blanket burrito sleep style says otherwise. While he also fits nicely in his own bed on the floor, he prefers his role as your real-life teddy bear.

Oliver adores people of all ages and enjoys meeting new friends. From toddlers to teens, Oliver is a social butterfly with kids too. He has bonded with his young human foster siblings and prides himself on being their loyal sidekick. His good-natured and easy-going attitude extends to animals, and he’s great with other dogs and respectful of felines. When a neighbourhood cat entered his foster family’s backyard, Oliver didn’t bat an eye or move a paw!  Of course, if Oliver were to live with a furry companion, they’d still need to understand boundaries. As the only pet in his foster home, Oliver also enjoys being the apple of everyone’s eye, and he would be best suited to a home that would keep him engaged, active, and doted on.

Seasonal sniffles? No problem. Oliver’s love of grassy roll-fests and outdoor adventures is still going strong with a little vet-approved support. His skin has responded well to over-the-counter meds such as Reactine and the occasional Cytopoint injection to keep any itchiness in check. His future family will need to continue this simple management plan and stick with a diet that avoids chicken, as he does react to it. Oliver isn’t a fan of having his nails trimmed and has only had them done at the vet. It’s possible that, with time and trust, a professional groomer might be able to handle his nail trims, but that hasn’t been tried yet.

Oliver has learned that his crate is a safe space, but let’s be honest, he’d rather have couch privileges. He’s not destructive and happy to nap while you are out, then greet you with a gentle wiggle and hopeful eyes the moment you walk through the door. His foster mom works from home, so he’s gotten used to having company, and he’d love a forever family where that is the norm. Being your loyal little sidekick is his dream job.

Oliver’s family describes him as “an affectionate, intelligent, and joyful companion who just wants to love and be loved.” If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky companion, Oliver might just be your man. Let’s find this gentleman the happily-ever-after he deserves by clicking HERE.

APPLYING FOR OLIVER (OR ANY BTRC DOG)?

  • You’ll get an email acknowledgment when your application is received – check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see it!
  • Only applicants who best match the dog’s needs will be contacted for an interview.
  • There’s no set timeline for how long an adoption might take – it depends on how many apps we receive, scheduling for interviews and home visits, and other factors. Thanks for your patience as we work to match each dog with the lifestyle and home where they’ll thrive!

BTRC foster Oliver is soaking up lots of TLC – and rightfully so, because he’s recovering from TWO surgeries!

This brave boy had 12 teeth extracted and a 3.5 cm mass removed from his abdomen. Though the mass was quite large for his little body, we’re happy to report that the pathology indicates it is benign.

And while Oliver is proud that he’s been recovering like a champ, he’s also annoyed. The vet ordered that Oliver cannot perform any strenuous activity, which includes going on walks, and he has chosen to protest this decision by standing near the leash cupboard and voicing his displeasure.

A fun fact about Oliver – he has refined taste. He saw a stylish tote bag left on the ground and claimed it as his bed. His message to whoever left it on the ground: “You snooze, you lose.” Or in Oliver’s case, you snooze, and HE snoozes in style!

Another awesome thing about Oliver – he’s a great foster brother to his young human siblings and has perfected the role of sidekick and snuggler. And while he loves sleeping with his humans, he’s come to terms with the fact that they can’t quite fit in his designer “bed.” It might be time for Oliver to search for some larger accommodations!

Oliver is being fostered in Toronto, ON, and is not yet ready for adoption.

Introducing Oliver!

This adorable boy was surrendered because his owner passed away. Family friends stepped in to care for him temporarily, but they wanted Oliver to find a home where he would thrive, so they contacted BTRC.

Oliver is 7 years young and has the energy and enthusiasm of a puppy! He has two young human siblings whom he adores, and he can’t get enough of their attention (the feeling is mutual ❤️). In his previous home, he lived with cats and dogs, so it seems like Oliver is an all-around gentleman.

Recently, Oliver showed his dislike of rain, and he stayed close to his foster mom until the weather cleared up. We think he may suffer from the well-known condition of “Syndroma Meltinus Bostonitis” (Melting Boston Syndrome), which is caused by the deeply held belief that he will, in fact, melt when exposed to rain. Though harmless, Meltinus is highly contagious among Boston Terriers. This is something we will keep an eye on.

Oliver is being fostered in the Greater Toronto Area and is not yet ready for adoption.
