Minnie and Ava came to our attention when one of our volunteers saw a “free to a good home” ad. After their owner’s passing, Minnie, a nine-year-old Boston/Frenchie mix, and Ava, a seven-year-old Schnauzer, suddenly found themselves homeless. We stepped in right away to ensure they were safe and could get the TLC they needed after experiencing such a big change.
After careful assessment and observing how the girls interacted together, we felt they would thrive best in separate homes. This decision isn’t due to any “bad” behaviour – both are truly wonderful dogs. Their personalities and needs are simply quite different, and giving each of them the right environment will allow them to feel more secure, confident, and truly blossom.
Ava’s now settling into a foster home with another rescue, and Minnie has found her groove with her BT foster brother Clyde. She had to see a vet quickly because of a leaking mammary mass, and she was spayed at the same time. While we wait for the pathology results, Minnie’s recovering comfortably with lots of attention from her foster parents and Clyde – and it’s clear this girl doesn’t mind being the centre of attention.
We are grateful that with the holidays approaching, both girls are safe and cared for – just in time for Santa Paws to pay a visit. ❤️
Minnie is being fostered in Edmonton, AB and is not yet ready for adoption.
