Lily

We have some sad news to share. BTRC has lost another precious alum, Lily. Adopted nearly nine years ago, this beautiful girl was cherished beyond measure by her family.

Surrendered to BTRC because she had neurological issues, Lily’s family said they never held her back. Though sometimes unstable on her feet, her determination surpassed any struggles, and she lived a full and happy life.

Lily enjoyed taking in the beauty of Claremont, ON, but the conditions had to be just right. No wind, no rain, no snow, no fog, not too hot and not too cold. Essentially, there were about seventeen days in the year she would deem acceptable enough to go for a walk.

The sound of the espresso machine was music to Lily’s ears because it meant she would get a taste of frothy milk. But when Dad started to drink his brew with no milk, Lily was confused. Why would the machine make “the noise” but there was no milk froth to enjoy afterwards? Needless to say, Dad couldn’t bear the disappointed look on her face, so he became her own personal barista, so she could enjoy a bevvy alongside Dad’s coffee.

Warm drinks were not Lily’s only preferred delicacy. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favourite holidays because she knew her family's skills of resistance were at their weakest, and she would enjoy culinary delicacies such as turkey liver and heart with some carrots and a touch of gravy.

Lily was a very affectionate dog, and she never met a stranger; as long as they showered her with belly rubs, she showered them with kisses. And though Lily loved everyone, she found her greatest comfort with her humans – especially wedged between Mom and Dad’s pillows. They will miss her gentle snores and her comforting presence.

Her parents say, “She was a wonderful doggo who lived her very best life with us; we were blessed to have her. We’re very sad she’s gone, but will treasure every moment she spent with us and all of our wonderful memories.” ♥️

Lily, you will be forever missed, but you will never be forgotten. Run free sweet girl.
