Lenny looks a little perplexed…and understandably so because this picture was taken when he was picked up from the vet after his BOAS surgery and neuter.
BOAS stands for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, and in Lenny’s case, it caused difficulty breathing, frequent regurgitation and vomiting. With symptoms exacerbated by physical activity, we knew this playful pup needed surgery quickly.
We are happy to report that the procedure went well, and Lenny’s now recovering and receiving TLC from his foster family, including his canine companion, Carlos. His foster parents have been rolling wet food into meatballs and feeding him in an upright position to make swallowing easier and safer for him. Lenny likes this new delicacy, and though he hasn’t told this to his personal chefs just yet, he plans to add these to his daily meal plan, even after recovery.
Though Lenny’s neuter was straightforward, one of his testicles was sent to pathology as it was irregular in shape and appearance. Luckily, the results confirmed there was nothing to worry about.
Lenny’s total bill was $4983.66. Nearly every dog in our care has required extensive surgery, and many have needed it in just the last few months. Another foster, Jaxon, also requires BOAS surgery very soon. The costs are adding up, and we are working tirelessly to raise funds.
If you can spare even a few dollars, please consider donating, as every bit adds up and can significantly help a foster dog get the care they so desperately need. ❤️https://bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/donate/

This adorable boy was a recent addition to a family, but the dynamics between the dogs was not the right fit. Lenny’s owner thought it would be best if he had a companion that matched his very gentle, and sometimes timid, demeanour. So, BTRC stepped in to help and Lenny is now in foster care and enjoying the company of his calm and confident foster brother, Leo.
While we know Lenny needs to be neutered, he has his first vet check up very soon, so we will get a better idea of his overall health. So far, he’s been snuggly, playful and a complete charmer. ♥ He turns four next month, so his arrival is not the only thing we’re celebrating!
