Hi! I’m Jippy – an adorable Boston Terrier-Pug mix with a big heart, a wagging tail, and so much love to give.
I came to BTRC after my owner passed away. We were together 24/7, and I’m still learning how to navigate such a big loss. Even through my grief, one thing has remained clear – all I truly want is a human to love and call my own.
I’m a happy, affectionate boy who loves being near my people. I’ll happily follow you from room to room, but I’m also content to settle in on the couch or a chair for some quiet time. Thanks to my Pug side, I’ve been blessed with a tail, so you’ll always know when I’m excited!
I enjoy puppy playtime and have lived with another dog in foster care. Much of the time, he and I are great friends, even snuggling in for a nap together. But I do have clear boundaries and find sharing my person very difficult. When I feel uncomfortable, I will growl and, even if my foster brother gets the message, I can escalate as he retreats. Because of this, I truly need to be the only dog in my home. This will allow me to feel secure, relaxed, and focused on my relationship with my humans, without the stress of competition. (Oh, and another thing – when I meet cats, I chase them, so I don’t think they would enjoy living with me).
I’m not overly vocal, but I do express my displeasure clearly when I’m confined. Crates and being shut in a single room are still challenging for me. My foster mom has been helping me learn that the crate can be a safe place when people are home, and I’m making progress. When my humans leave, I do best being left in the main living area, where I can snooze on the couch and wait patiently for them to return.
I know some basic commands, I’m fully house-trained, and I’m up to date on my vaccinations. I’ll be microchipped at my upcoming neuter appointment next week and will then be fully vetted and ready to go to my forever home once I'm recovered.
Before coming into foster care, I was rarely alone and went everywhere with my person. My foster mom also works from home, so I’m best suited for a home where someone is around often. I dream of a life that includes car rides, sleeping in the big bed, and being the loyal sidekick I was born to be.
I still have work to do when it comes to sharing my person, but I love praise and I learn quickly. While this may never be something that fully disappears, my big heart and endless affection will make me an incredible companion to the right home. When I greet you, I stand up with my paws and look at you with my big, beautiful eyes, and it’s clear I just want to feel safe and cherished. ❤️

Jippy’s joined the BTRC gang!
This three-year-old Boston Terrier-Pug mix just arrived, and he’s dealing with a big life change. His owner sadly passed away, and now he’s starting a new chapter with us. ❤️
Jippy is sweet, gentle and friendly, and while he’s understandably still a little timid, he’s doing well. He’ll need to be neutered soon, but for now, his main job is simple – decompress, settle in, and take in all the TLC surrounding him.
Jippy is being fostered in Strathmore, Alberta and is not yet ready for adoption.
