We’re excited to announce that both Lenny and Jaxon have found their forever homes – right where their hearts already belonged…with their foster families!
Cottage life for Lenny and lounging by the pool for Jaxon, these two boys are living the good life, and they’re ecstatic that they get to stay.
“We’re thrilled to officially welcome Lenny to the family! It didn’t take long to realize that Lenny was exactly where he was meant to be. This adorable addition brings so much joy and energy to our home; we can’t wait to share many happy moments together.”
“Jaxon is the second shadow we didn’t know we needed. Everywhere we go, he is there giving a gentle kiss, a warm snuggle or asking for just one more liver treat. Now that he’s had BOAS and a new nose, he can finally breathe and has proudly earned his nickname ‘Michael Jaxon’. Jaxon is a special boy who has filled his new quiet ‘only pet/kid free’ home with love and joy, and we are so happy to make him the centre of attention.”
Sometimes the best place to call home is the one you’ve already found. Congratulations to these two wonderful families!
Summer is coming and Jaxon’s getting ready!
This handsome boy has a lot to be proud of. He’s been sticking to a healthy diet, getting lots of exercise, and working on his confidence in the car and when he sees unfamiliar sights outside.
Jaxon’s foster mom noticed that his breathing became laboured when he was anxious or during physical activity, so a vet recommended that he lose some weight. It was also noted that Jaxon would benefit from BOAS surgery, a procedure that helps dogs with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome breathe more easily. Not exactly music to Jaxon’s ears (or ours, given that BT foster Lenny just had the same costly procedure). But once Jaxon saw his foster parents opening the pool, it gave him the motivation he needed. He has a special swimsuit in mind, and he can’t wait to show it off! How could we not support such a meaningful goal?
Fully committed to his lifestyle change, Jaxon’s keeping active and limiting indulgences (though he does sometimes hold out on supper until his mom sprinkles a low-cal liver treat on top). When told he was pushing his luck, he claimed it could be worse – he could ask for a sprinkle of cheese instead!
His weekly weigh-ins have proven to be very successful, though he doesn’t think it’s fair that the weight of his harness, collar, and leash aren’t deducted from the total. He also thinks he should be given the opportunity to have a nice big poop beforehand too.
We have a fundraiser in the works dedicated to Jaxon’s upcoming surgery, so stay tuned! Hint: He’s looking forward to “clearing the air” for you AND him!
Jaxon is being fostered in Newmarket, ON, and is not ready for adoption.
Hello, Jaxon!
Jaxon is a five-year-old Boston who recently came to us as a transfer from an all-breed rescue. He had been adopted out once while in their care, but it was quickly discovered that he is not a fan of cats. Wanting to set him up for success, they reached out to BTRC to help find him a more suitable forever home. So, Jaxon is now in a BTRC foster home and we’re getting to know him.
Jaxon has already made himself comfortable in his new digs and has claimed ‘his spot’ on the couch. He’s very taken with his foster dad, following him wherever he goes and nestling close during snuggle time. ♥️ Jaxon is quite the ‘MacGyver’ as he’s figured out how to open the treat cupboard himself! Since Jaxon needs to lose a few pounds, his foster family has relocated the snacks to a secret hiding spot so he can’t over-indulge.
With a vet appointment coming up, we’ll be sure to post another update soon!
