When BTRC foster Emmy found her forever home, things just clicked. From the very beginning, it was clear she was exactly where she was always meant to be – and that her new person felt the same way. Emmy’s transformation into a confident, deeply loved companion was everything we hope for when we place a dog.
We’re incredibly touched to share this beautiful letter from Emmy’s mom. It’s a heartfelt reminder of the love our dogs go on to experience, and how much it means when they truly find their forever home.
❝The first time I saw Emmy’s picture I knew she was going to be my girl. It was love at first sight. I think she felt the same way when she met me.
We were definitely a bonded pair. She walked into my house and knew it was her home and she would be in charge and I happily agreed.
Once she knew she could trust me she emerged from her anxious shell. She became an incredibly confident little girl who was fearless, kind and intuitive and so smart. Always by my side but never in the way. She was so easy just wanted to be loved and be my only baby. She enjoyed her neighbourhood walks but was thrilled when we went to Bronte Provincial Park.
Em was always happy to snuggle. She and I shared a bench on the deck every morning and late afternoon. Emmy’s bedtime was 10pm and her ability to tell time was incredible, letting me know by snuffling around and staring at me. I would say “bed bed.” She would run up the stairs. She would settle on her side of the bed and as I covered her up she would go to sleep almost immediately. She looked so sweet.
My baby girl – I miss her so much. For such a tiny girl she was a huge presence in my life.❞
We’ll never forget the joy of seeing Emmy settle so effortlessly into her new life. She was cherished, understood, and adored – and that’s everything we could ever wish for. Except, of course, that Emmy and her mom had more time together.
Our deepest thanks to her mom for giving Emmy such a wonderful life – and for sharing such a moving tribute to a very good girl. You will be forever missed, Emmy, but never forgotten. ❤️
