I was concerned that you wouldn’t find me this Christmas in my new home, with a new name, and I’m so happy you did!
I hope I get to meet you one day, like I got to meet the Tooth Fairy. I had 16 teefs removed! My foster daddy kept telling me not to worry – that I’d surely be on your Nice List because I’m a really good boy. It turns out he was right because I got lots of presents.
Santa, this year was a really scary one. Before I got to my foster home, I was left outside. I didn’t know where I was, but thankfully, I was found and brought to a shelter. That’s when BTRC stepped in and I met my dad. We loved each other right away – something just clicked, and I knew I was safe.
What I didn’t know was how much work my body needed to feel better. My dental surgery was a big one – all those teefs gone, plus repairs to two nasal fistulas. AND, because my bone density isn’t great, a small part of my jaw even fractured. That’s a lot, Santa (let’s not even mention the lumps, bumps and sensitive tummy…I’m trying to keep this letter short).
Wanna know something amazing, though? After everything I’ve been through, BTRC knew I shouldn’t have to move again. My dad stood by me then and now, knowing I’ll need regular vet visits to stay healthy, he’s ready to do whatever it takes – anytime, anywhere. So, I guess this is my big announcement: I’M SET FOR LIFE!
Thank you, Santa, for always giving me hope. Thank you, Dad and BTRC, for picking me – because when you’ve been a discarded dog, you can’t help but wonder if you’d ever get picked again.
Love,
Boone

BTRC fosters Morty and Boone recently had to face some disappointing news – not all donuts and cones involve sweet treats!
Morty entered the vet clinic as happy as can be. We’re not sure if it was because he was being carried and cradled like a baby by his foster mom, or because he was eager to be doted on by all the staff (we suspect it was a mix of both!).
This brave boy had 5 teeth removed and recovered like a champ. But, as you can see, he was less than impressed with his post-surgery accessory.
Boone’s dental was much more involved. 15 teeth were removed, and he had two nasal fistulas repaired. A nasal fistula is an abnormal opening between a dog’s nasal cavity and mouth, which can be caused by infection or periodontal disease. Thankfully, now that these have been corrected, Boone’s mouth will look, feel, and smell so much better!
Two masses were also removed from Boone’s mouth, and testing has revealed that they were simply an excess of gum tissue. This is excellent news and one more step towards his healthier and happier smile.
So, while these handsome boys were not keen to wear their protective gear, they’re now both feeling great and will soon be on the road to finding their forever homes!

When Brutus’s foster family took a little vacation, he stayed at Hotel Boone for a few days and the vibes were awesome! Boone brought the chill, and Brutus brought the excitement, and the two of them just worked.
They lounged, they walked, and they posed like models for the camera – they’re ridiculously handsome, don’t ya think?
Both boys are being fostered in Toronto, ON, and while Boone still has some vetting to complete, Brutus will be up for adoption soon, so stay tuned!

It’s the British Columbia•Heritage•Natal•New Brunswick•Saskatchewan•Terry Fox Day•Civic Holiday Long Weekend, and Boone wants to know if you’re planning to soak up some rays too.
Whether you’re lounging lakeside, firing up the BBQ, cozying up on the couch or finally getting that well-deserved nap, we hope you have a wonderful day (and night)! ❤️
Let Boone know what you’re up to; he’s always down for a good scroll.

This sweet boy was found wandering outside, with no identification and no one looking for him. Thankfully, we had a foster home that wanted to step in and let him know that he was wanted, valued and safe.
Originally from Québec, Boone made his way to Ontario, where his foster dad was eagerly waiting for him. It didn’t take Boone long to settle into his new digs and finally get a chance to relax and decompress. So far, he has shown that he’s very chill, enjoys walks and believes the human bed is meant to have a canine companion in it during sleeping hours.
The condition of Boone’s mouth indicates he’s in desperate need of a dental, which we will arrange ASAP. He’s estimated to be about ten years old, so we suspect this surgery has been a long time coming and Boone is in pain – we can’t wait for him to get the relief he deserves very soon. ❤️
Boone is being fostered in Toronto, ON and is not ready for adoption.
