Hi, I’m Tucker. As a true gentleman, I appreciate the finer things in life, with a special interest in footwear. While in foster care, I’ve been on the hunt for that perfect shoe – usually my foster mom’s Croc. I carry it around, nap with it, and occasionally help remove it from her foot myself.
But really, it’s not about the shoe. Just like in Cinderella, it’s really about the person wearing it. I’m looking for my happily-ever-after human (bonus points if you don’t mind walking with one shoe).
I live with my brother Lincoln, and I think he’s the coolest guy around. He keeps life interesting… and I keep things balanced.
I’m the older brother by 175 days, which I feel gives me a certain level of maturity. I’m the gentle, sensitive one. I love fetch, I walk nicely on leash, and I’m happiest curled up on your lap (or the couch… or your bed). When the weather’s nice, you’ll find me sunbathing like it’s my full-time job.
I do take a minute with new people – but if you go slow and let me come to you, I warm up beautifully. Treats help (treats always help). I am, after all, Head of Security, and I am proud to report our foster home has been burglary-free since I came on the scene.
Speaking of Lincoln… he has a few things to share.
I’m Lincoln – athlete, entertainer, and 16-time gold medalist in the Squeaky Pig Toss Olympics.
Yes, all gold. No, there was no competition. That’s not the point. For anyone questioning the legitimacy of the competition – I was the sport inventor, host, athlete, and judge – sounds like jealousy to me. I will need to continue my elite-level training at my new home, and to do so I’ll need to bring Tucker. He’s my biggest fan.
I like to stay active, go for walks, and keep an eye on things. I can, I’ll admit, get a bit excited on leash and am still working on my manners. I also like to make enthusiastic announcements when people arrive. I’m working on toning it down. Once I’ve had a proper introduction, I’m a friendly, happy guy. Certified BFF material.
When it comes to other dogs, I just like to take things slow. Once I know everyone’s not here to steal my medals, I’m actually very nice.
I’ve got great manners where it counts. I know sit, stay, down, leave it, and off. Brains and brawn.
Tucker says I’m his emotional support dog. I say I’m his coach. Either way, we’re a solid team.
Okay, now that we’ve introduced ourselves, the humans have a few things to add.
Lincoln and Tucker are brothers and a bonded pair who will be adopted together.
Tucker is the more sensitive of the two and benefits from slow introductions with new people. Lincoln is confident and social, though he can pull on leash and will need continued training. He’s also the more vocal one of the pair when new people come to visit, but Tucker will often join in – they tend to take their cues from each other. These behaviours will continue to improve with consistent, positive reinforcement.
Both dogs are house-trained and crate-trained. They do best when crated while home alone, as it helps reduce anxiety and prevents mischief.
The pair would do best in a steady home environment, especially as this move will be a big change after several months in foster care.
Lincoln has allergies that are managed with a Cytopoint injection every 8-10 weeks, while Tucker takes a supplement for his liver health. Tucker also had a test that could suggest Cushing’s, but he has no symptoms and does not require treatment. At this time, it is simply something to monitor with a veterinarian.
Also worth mentioning, the pair – known as “The Yams” – consider themselves minor celebrities after taking social media by storm.
Most importantly:
These two have been through everything together. They rely on each other for confidence, comfort, and stability, and they are happiest when side by side.
They’re not just two dogs – they’re a team.
The good news? They keep each other company, which often makes things easier, not harder.
If you’re looking for a built-in pair of best friends, Lincoln and Tucker might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

It’s Lincoln here – I’m one half of the Yam Brothers – I LOVE our nickname.
I have a question. Is the Naughty/Nice list a package deal? Because Tucker had some words with the vet not long ago, and I was just an innocent bystander. Does that make me guilty, too? When I told Tucker that it could impact his chances at qualifying for the ‘Nice List,’ he claimed it was “passionate communication,” and he shouldn’t be penalized for that.
Before I get to our wish list, I wanna thank you for sending us the best foster parents ever. When no one in Alberta could take us, we were so scared we’d have no home. Then, it was like magic. We went on a plane and flew to Ontario to a home filled with so many toys! The best thing is – our foster parents have as much energy as we do. They play hard and snuggle hard. They also have the best sense of humour and think everything we do is funny.
Now for the wish list:
Santa…there’s one more thing. I’m sorta scared to say it. Please watch over Tucker. He’s brave, but he’s scared like I am. Tucker is going in for more tests and maybe a liver biopsy. We don’t know what’s wrong yet. I love him so much, and I just want him to be okay. He’s my best friend in the whole world. If you can only grant one wish, can you erase my ask for the pigs? There’s nothing I want more than for my brother to be healthy and happy.
Thanks for listening, Santa,
Lincoln

Brothers Lincoln and Tucker both recently had dentals. Each one had a single tooth removed, and they were relieved, because the way their foster parents explained it – the more teeth removed, the longer you must wait for toys and chewies to return!
Lincoln had a lump removed from his shoulder, and pathology confirmed it was a mast cell tumour. Fortunately, it was low-grade with clear margins, so the chance of recurrence is low. The surgeries haven’t phased the boys at all (though Tucker did wake up with a chip on his shoulder and had words with the vet staff about his desire to go home – immediately). Both pups had snuggly beds and a fireplace to get them through their first recovery night, and by the next day, they were raring to go – yammy-style (they are affectionately called “The Yams” by all of us at BTRC❤️).
Next up, more testing for Tucker as his bloodwork shows high ALP – alkaline phosphatase, an enzyme found mainly in the liver. While his levels decreased after his dental, they are still elevated, so we need to investigate further.
Now, The Yams are having a staycation at their beloved temp-foster mom’s house, which means one thing – they’re getting spoiled rotten! They keep asking her which one is cuter, and when she says they’re equally adorable, they just don’t seem satisfied.

...and celebrated with a birthday party fit for a king! When Tucker opened his gifts, his brother Lincoln immediately saw something of interest…and he quietly kept his eye on the prize.
Tucker’s foster parents pulled out all the stops – they decorated, doted on and dedicated all their attention to Tucker. And that’s when Linc, the stealthy snatcher he is, pounced and stole the acorn stuffy right from under Tucker’s nose! Linc has invented a NEW game called ‘Acorn Launch: Fluffy Bed Edition.’ (We will share a video once Lincoln has worked out all the rules and perfected his technique.)
Luckily for Tucker, he had many more toys to play with and, because of his gentle and loving demeanour, was happy to share with his BFF.
These two brothers from Alberta once in desperate need of rescue, are now the heartbeat of their foster home in Ontario. Their foster parents took a chance on these two boys – no guarantees and no big backstory – just two hopeful faces looking for a place to stay. We’re so grateful that Tucker and Lincoln experience the love, stimulation and care they do every day. In return, their foster parents find themselves belly laughing so often it’s starting to hurt!

First, he tried the giant ball his parents bought. Yes, it was epically huge and pretty awesome, but it wasn’t what he needed. Then he tried to play with his brother Lincoln, but he wasn’t interested. So, Tucker continued searching for the “thing” that would satisfy him.
Then he found it. It was beautiful. It had an intoxicating scent. He knew from the moment he laid his eyes (and nose) on it, that it was exactly what he was searching for. So, he brought it to the couch and settled in for the night.
Oh, how his emotional support shoe has brought him so much joy. Who are we to judge?
Both Tucker and Lincoln are scheduled for their dental surgeries soon, and the shoe will be waiting to offer support if they need it. Tucker has considered sharing it with Linc, but says there’s a perfectly good other shoe available too.

Well, fosters Lincoln and Tucker have a lot to smile about. Amazing foster parents, a 24/7 playmate and fabulous fashion sense.
The boys plan to soak up the long weekend with a game of fetch, lots of belly rubs and a long walk rocking these bee-autiful bandanas!
Let Lincoln and Tucker know what you’re up to – they’re looking for some more ideas because they’re always up for a jam-packed agenda!
Happy Labour Day!

Launch pig off the bed.
Repeat until bored… or called to dinner.
SCORING:
Style points for flair and speed.
Extra points if the pig sticks the landing.
Bonus awarded if no one understands your strategy but you.
Seriously, though, we’re all pretty impressed that BTRC foster Lincoln has invented his own sport! And, naturally, he dominates it. Clever boy!
Lincoln’s foster family is fully supportive and have even purchased a “contingency pig” to ensure that equipment issues won’t interfere with his future training.

At seven years young, these boys are full of energy! They were cherished members of their family, but a change in their owner's health, as well as living arrangements, meant the boys were not getting the exercise and stimulation they needed. So, the selfless decision was made to surrender them and place them in an environment that would help them thrive.
Lincoln and Tucker have had quite the journey. Originally from Alberta, they made the trip to Ontario, where a foster family was eagerly waiting for their arrival. We thought it best that the boys be placed in a home with no other pets so they could decompress after their long journey, and so we could get to know their dynamic.
So far, they’ve been playful, friendly, and full of kisses! Tucker has taken a liking to his foster dad’s shoe – it’s his sidekick while he naps. Lincoln is impressed by the extensive wardrobe available to him, and now that he knows his foster mom makes doggy bandanas, he has placed a long list of custom orders…free of charge, of course.
The boys look forward to a wonderful summer in Ontario, where they can explore their large, fenced backyard, cottage life, and lounging by the pool. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Elbows Up Raffle to help get these boys one step closer to their happily-ever-after!
