Blue is a petite Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart.
Blue is the definition of an easy little companion. Her perfect home would be with someone who is home often, since she loves being around her people, but she’s also completely comfortable relaxing on her own. Most of the time, you’ll simply find her curled up nearby enjoying a peaceful nap.
She absolutely loves little toys and playing fetch. She’s also very treat-motivated, which makes her a wonderful little listener – especially when snacks are involved. Blue enjoys going for walks at the park, soaking up the warm sunshine, and spending quiet, cozy days with her humans.
Blue’s Boston Terrier side says “adventure,” but her Chihuahua side says “carry me there.” She considers this balance and compromise – which is why she’s perfectly happy riding in a large purse or carrier when the situation calls for convenience, comfort, or just a little extra pampering.
One of the funniest things about Blue is her random zoomies, especially when the bed sheets are freshly made. She gets so excited that she turns into a tiny rocket, and it’s impossible not to laugh.
Overall, Blue is very low maintenance and easy to care for. Baths don’t bother her much, and she adapts easily to a calm, loving environment.
A few things to know about Blue: she can be protective of the home and will bark when someone approaches the door or rings the bell. Like many small dogs, she likes to alert her humans when she hears unfamiliar sounds. She’s also not the biggest fan of nail trims, although the veterinarian is able to trim her nails without issue, and someone experienced with dogs may also feel comfortable handling them.
Blue is currently still working on fully transitioning from pee pads to consistently going outside, so she would benefit from a little patience, routine, and encouragement in that area.
Blue gets along with cats… kinda. She is absolutely fascinated by them and will chase them whenever given the opportunity. But when it comes to other dogs, Blue would much prefer to be the only pup in the home so she can soak up all the attention for herself. Honestly, she gives so much love in return that it feels like a pretty fair trade.
Blue would make an amazing companion for someone looking for a sweet, affectionate, funny, and easygoing little dog to share their days with.

We decided to share Blue’s story today because if anyone needs a nice warm embrace, it’s her. She’s been through a lot recently and is handling it like a champ (it does help that she has amazing foster parents who have been there every step of the way). ❤️
Blue recently had spay surgery, cherry eye repair and a mammary mass removed. We’re happy to report that the pathology for the lump came back benign. Unfortunately, Blue developed an eye ulcer, but thanks to a very rigorous eye drop schedule (and her dedicated foster mom), Blue’s eye has fully recovered, and she feels great!
Everyone who meets Blue falls in love with her – especially her foster mom’s co-workers. She was very much missed at work while she recovered at home, and her workmates counted the days until she was ready to accompany her mom back to work.
And today, on National Hug Your Dog Day, we also want to celebrate YOUR pups too. So, hold them close, give them a snuggle and share a pic with us!

Blue is a nine‑year‑old Boston Terrier-Chihuahua mix who came to us from a shelter. Her family thought she might do best in an environment without children. It seems like Blue agrees because she’s been a complete doll since arriving in her foster home, and she’s loving all the undivided attention from her foster parents!
To say Blue’s foster mom is smitten with her is an understatement. And, ever so talented, Blue now has a full-time job as an office assistant at her foster mom’s work. She also travels in style – she’s so petite that she can travel in a tote bag for their morning commute.
This little lady has some appointments coming up, including a consult for her cherry eye and a spay, so her calendar is filling up fast! Blue doesn’t mind, though, because she loves any excuse to charm new people.
