I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Tikka

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

Three masses down and Tikka is raring to go!

BTRC Tikka is trying to make the best of her cone after her recent surgery. When she heard her foster mom talking about a soft cone and donut, she immediately started to drool. Whether her mom meant soft serve ice cream or a deliciously glazed cruller, Tikka was ready for her delectable treat! Given she’d been told to lose 4 lbs. and had been carefully watching her diet, a cheat day was just what she felt she deserved. You can imagine her disappointment when her mom put a blue blow-up accessory around her neck and told her it needed to stay put for a while. Since Tikka loves spending time outdoors, she wondered if this ‘donut’ would give her weird tan lines – but does admit, it might serve as a great flotation device for the pool.

The lumps were removed from Tikka’s ear, stomach, and knee. We’ve received the test results, and everything looks good! The lumps on her ear and stomach were low-grade mast cell tumours. These were completely removed, and since these usually don’t spread, the surgery should take care of them. The lump on her knee was a harmless collagen mass, which is common in places that get bumped or rubbed often.

Tikka has not skipped a beat since surgery – her appetite is healthy, her poops have been normal and her energy is high. As for her weight loss plan, Tikka is down two pounds since arriving in foster care which has her vet (and the rest of us) quite pleased!

Cost for Tikka’s mass removals: $1,805.55

Stayin’ cool with Tikka!

BTRC foster Tikka is beating the summer heat! When her foster mom put the kiddie pool in the backyard, she was the first to hop in. Her brother, BTRC alum Linus, was happy to let her enjoy her oasis in solitude, while he remained cool and dry in the shade.

Since coming into foster care, Tikka’s not only learning the joys of lounging in the pool, but she’s also learning to not eat the cat’s food. Another one of Tikka’s preferred yet restricted indulgences – dirt. Though Tikka claims she’s just trying to help her foster mom clean up the garden, she’s been told that dirt needs to stay on the ground. Knowing she has a watchful eye on her, Tikka has turned her attention to dogs treats instead.

Though Tikka and Linus warmed up to each other quickly, Tikka is not as receptive to “outside” dogs. Whether meeting them on walks or when they visit her foster home, she gets very excited and can be vocal. She eventually settles, and her foster mom continues to work on building her confidence and calmness around new dogs.

Tikka has an appointment this week to remove a few masses, so we will update you soon on her recovery!

Estimate for Tikka’s mass removals: $1,921.06.

Tikka has arrived!

BTRC welcomes seven-year-old Tikka – surrendered because her family’s life circumstances changed, and they could no longer provide her with the time and attention they knew she deserved.

So far, Tikka has proven to be a polite houseguest. She is slowly getting acquainted with her feline foster siblings and her new foster brother, BTRC alum Linus. She sleeps soundly in her crate and gets her ears cleaned and nails trimmed with no fuss. Foster brother Linus is not impressed as she is making him look like a Drama King when it’s his turn for some ‘spa treatments’!

Tikka’s foster mom describes her as “beautifully behaved” and a “sweetheart.” We look forward to updating everyone soon on this adorable girl!
