Fionn has found her forever!

We are happy to report that Fionn has been adopted by her foster family. Diligently working by her mom’s side every day, Fionn has been an integral co-worker at her mom’s job, so everyone is thankful that she is staying part of the team. When Fionn applied for the position of “Forever Assistant,” she was quite pleased that her mom accepted immediately. Fionn insists that if she left this role, her mom might forget to take her lunch break – without the toy squeaker signifying it’s time to pause, mom might turn into a workaholic!

Her mom says, “Fionn has brought so much joy and levity into my life and household! She’s a patient work-from-home partner, an energetic exercise buddy, and the sweetest, smiley-est companion. I’m the proudest foster-fail mama on the planet.” ❤

We are so happy for Fionn and her family!

Fionn is five and feelin’ fab!

‘Pretty in Pink’ BTRC foster Fionn celebrated her birthday in style. Adorned with her birthday crown, Fionn proudly strutted to the park to show off her new accessory and her favourite gem toy. That toy might seem like any old toy, but we assure you it’s not. It was her first discovery when she arrived in her foster home, and it was love at first sight. Now you can’t find Fionn without finding her gem. It’s true what they say – diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

Fionn keeps her foster mom laughing with her cute and clever antics. She has converted her crate into a bunk bed – napping inside or on top of it depending on her mood. We suspect the top bunk has something to do with it being closer to her foster mom while she works at her desk. ❤

Fionn – it looks like five might just be your best year yet!

One–Two–Three Dentals!

In March, BTRC foster Fionn had her first dental; three teeth were removed but she required more extractions. Similar to how a human dentist would care for our teeth, it was decided to take a staged approach, dividing the remaining work into two shorter, more predictable stages to reduce the time under anesthesia.

Her second procedure is now complete, and Fionn is recovering well. Nine teeth were removed this time, and she’s expected to lose nine more at her third dental, booked for July.

Upon returning home from surgery, Fionn had a little food and water and quickly nestled in for an early night. The next day, her appetite returned in full force, but even after a hearty meal, her foster mom noticed she was a bit restless and pouty. It was likely because her beloved gem toy was out of bounds until her mouth had a chance to heal. Fionn has mastered the ‘puppy dog eyes’ for moments like this, but even her perfect pleading gaze couldn’t convince her foster mom to give her the toy. Now that’s some serious willpower because Fionn’s eyes are usually irresistibly persuasive!

Fionn’s total dental costs to date: $4166.77

Estimate for dental stage 3: $1256.01

Fionn is feelin’ fine!

BTRC foster Fionn recently had a dental procedure and though she was feeling a little loopy after removing three teeth, she still had one eye open on the prize – supper! After some softened food and a night of rest, Fionn was back to being herself – playful, energetic and full of snuggles.

Since arriving in foster care, Fionn has adapted from a home with dogs to being an only dog. She’s learned to play independently while her foster mom works, but much prefers a two-sided game of fetch during lunch breaks or when the workday wraps up.

Though Fionn loves walking, in true Boston style, she’s not a fan of the cold. A recent walk resulted in her needing to be carried home. Thankfully, her foster home has a fireplace which is one of Fionn’s favourite nap spots.

While Fionn dislikes cold weather, she LOVES food – so much that she gobbles up meals in record time. So, to slow her eating and increase her mental stimulation, her foster mom puts kibble in a muffin tray. Fionn is intrigued by her homemade “food game” and happily sees each pocket of kibble as a fun reward!

Welcome Fionn MacCool!

Fionn was surrendered because she was not getting along with one of the dogs in her home. Though it was an emotional decision for her family, they believed it was necessary for the well-being and safety of everyone involved, including Fionn.

Since coming into foster care, four-year-old Fionn has shown she is a curious and confident walker who likes exploring new sights and smells. She’s having a hard time picking her favourite spot in her new digs, however, as she moves from the window, fireplace, crate, couch or lap. Basically, if the spot is soft and fluffy, it is Fionn-approved! She appreciates the work-from-home life as she enjoys being close to her humans – her foster mom describes her as the “ultimate snuggle buddy!”

It’s beginning stages, so Fionn is still settling in, and we are getting to know her. While she decompresses, she is happy to enjoy a routine of walk, eat, snuggle and repeat. ❤
